It has a classic 1960s Jaguar – inspired body with a cherry & black sunburst finish and swank natural wood grain finish neck. The guitar is 100% original with no replacement parts. It was rescued a while back and has been meticulously detailed and cleaned. There is some pitting in the chrome surface of the bridge pieces and a couple of spots of rust, but mechanics work smoothly. The headstock emblem has a few small scratches in the surface. Finally, the original tuning peg set was pretty crummy to begin with, but the chrome on the back is flaking away in spots and the tuning pegs take some time to get the correct tuning. They do work with a little practice, but I would probably replace them if this guitar will be played on a regular basis. As far as playability goes, what do you expect from a 1960s Japanese guitar? The action is kind of high, the neck is nice and thick and it has a nice, raunchy sound. The steel reinforced neck looks very straight and it is adjustable. Overall, it would look absolutely amazing just hanging on the wall as a piece of art, or would make the perfect retro guitar for garage punks, surf rockers, psych heads, indie freaks and anyone who wants to be a real Rock Star.
Old retro toys are also perfect gifts. Saw a cool one, a 1962 vintage Barbie vinyl doll case has amazing retro graphics and a shiny black vinyl shell. It has a very useful and practical travel/vanity carry-on luggage shape and style that allows the case to be used for more than your vintage Barbie doll accessories. The Ponytail brand case makes a super-fun handbag / purse or overnight bag and has a convenient vanity mirror inside the lid. The case is used, but still in very good condition, especially for its age. There are only a few tiny specks of rust on the handle hardware, the zipper is strong, there are no rips, holes or splits in the black shell or the innner vinyl lining, and the graphics are crisp and bright. There are a few scuffs here and there, but no serious damage. The case stored Barbie clothes for many decades and still smells a bit musty inside. Isn’t that cool?
Retro pieces of clothing are cool finds as well. Saw one talked about as an amazing cloisonne Unicorn belt buckle that is intricately detailed and crafted with neat shimmery textured colors. It includes a stretchy web belt with removable custom clasps that fit the buckle’s strange closure. The decorative buckle measures 2 1/8 inches x 1 1/2 inches. The belt is reversible black / black with light gray stripe and measures 1 inch x 36 inches. The belt was used and the buckle does have a few scuffs and scratches, but nothing that really detracts from the appearance. Pretty bizare stuff is for sale out there.
